Hoedown Dreams Come True

There sure was a lot of buzz leading up to this year’s 99.5 WYCD Downtown Hoedown and after three days of fantastic country music,  it proved to be one of the best ever! Growing up in Romeo, MI I’ve been coming  to the Hoedown ever since I could drive a car. I’ve had some amazing memories of the Hoedown, from trying my first “chew” at the Skoal tent, to rockin’ out in the croud to country legends like Willie Nelson. This year however, was by far packed with some of the greatest memories yet!

I am so proud to finally be a part of the radio station that makes this event possible every year! I grew up listening to the station and idolizing those who were and are still on-air. When I had my first internship in Detroit while attending Michigan State University I told myself, “I will work in radio in Detroit!” I woke up this morning still on cloud 9 and slowly realizing some of my dreams are coming true. And to top off what was already an unforgettable weekend, I had the opportunity to chat with an artist and Detroiter who I admire the most, Kid Rock! He showed up to sing “Picture” with Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies to a roaring Hoedown croud!

Thank you so much to everyone who made this weekend possible, especially YOU the listener and country music fan! It made me extremely happy to see the excitement and smiles on everyone’s faces all weekend long. I had a lot of people tell me that the Hoedown was the weekend to forget about lifes problems and just have a good time. That’s exactly what I saw for three spectacular days!
