My husband Jeff will be celebrating today for sure! When you look up ‘pack rat’ in the dictionary there should be a picture of my husband right next to the word! Attics and basements were meant for storing old junk. But a pack rat asks, ‘Why stop there? If we park the cars in the driveway we can also fill up the garage. And while we’re at it, let’s just live on the back deck and then we can use the whole house for storage.’ Some may criticize the pack rat for living a life of clutter, but the pack rat lives by the motto ‘waste not, want not.’ And who knows, some of that stuff might be worth a lot of money some day’ if they can ever part with it!
For some people like my husband, they attach ‘sentimental value’ to everything they own. My husband kept his track shoes from high school, because he said they ‘have memories!’ We recently started a garage remodel project, and we have had quite a few arguments about ‘storing junk’ that we no longer use or need. I am the opposite of a pack rat, I like things clutter free and have zero emotional attachment to ‘stuff.’
Are you a pack rat and proud of it?
