Country heartthrob, Jake Owen married his model girlfriend this morning in an intimate family-only, sunrise ceremony on the beach in Vero Beach, FL, Jake’s hometown.
Barefoot and dressed all in white, Jake Owen and Lacey Buchanan said their vows as the sun came up over the ocean. Owen tells People magazine, “That was my idea, because it’s symbolic of the dawn of a new day and starting our new life together.”
For those interested in the fashion, People magazine reports that “the bride, 22, wore an Amsale gown and veil and the groom was casual in a white linen Armani shirt and Tommy Bahama drawstring pants.” The attendees at the ceremony included Lacey’s sister Leah as her maid of honor, and Jake’s twin brother Jarrod as best man. Ron Owen, (Jake’s uncle) officiated. See photo tweet below!
Jake first met Buchanan when she appeared in his music video for “8 Second Ride” and began dating after she starred in the video for his hit “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”
Respecting Jake’s privacy, 99.5 WYCD‘s Dr. Don Morning Show producer, Steve Grunwald, good friends with the country star, had a conversation with Jake at the ACM’s (we can tell you now that the news is officially out) where he stated that ‘she is the one’ and hinted of the big news you are now reading. In a congratulatory conversation this morning, Owen responded to Steve, “Thanks buddy, we are really happy.”
Owen popped the question to Buchanan on stage this past April Easter weekend when he dropped to his knee and proposed during his hit “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.”
Ending the song with his own edited lyrics of “baby, Lacey, I love…” he trailed off as the crowd screamed in excitement. The screams were even more deafening as Jake dropped to one knee and finished with a heartwarming “…you.” Watch the proposal here.
People also reports that “after the couple exchanged vows and their first kiss, the party walked to the patio of the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa for champagne, cake cutting and a sit-down brunch.”
Owen tells People “I’m looking forward to being a husband, someone his wife relies and leans on.” Lacey added, “He gives me so much love, that it’s the best place of my life, and having the commitment of marriage means everything.”
We wish the happy couple the best! Congratulations Jake and Lacey!
