Country legend George Jones has postponed two upcoming concerts in Minnesota and South Dakota this weekend, due to his continued recovery from a recent illness. According to a statement on his website, this came via doctors’ orders.
“I never want to cancel a show, but I have to do what the doctors tell me,” says Jones. “I thank all the fans from the bottom of my heart for their prayers and I look forward to seeing them on the road soon.”
As previously reported, the 80-year-old artist was hospitalized late last month due to an upper respiratory infection. He was released to recover at home, and the April 20 date at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota was to be his return to the stage after the brief illness. He was then to play at the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota the following night, as part of that hotel’s grand opening.
The Minnesota date has been rescheduled for Nov. 2, and the Deadwood show will now take place Nov. 3.
In the meantime, enjoy a little “White Lightning”:
