Lee Brice‘s sophomore album will be released Tuesday, April 24th and there is already buzz about the new single “I Drive Your Truck” being another number one hit for Brice!  Following the success of  the lead single “A Woman Like You,”  we may be seeing multiple Billboard hits from the upcoming album Hard 2 Love.

Listen to the lyrics (watch video or read below) and make sure you have a kleenex nearby, as it tells the story of how someone tries to erase the pain of losing a loved one, by driving around in their truck.  Story behind the song from LeeBrice.com: One of the writers heard an interview with a couple whose son was killed a month after joining the military. The interviewer asked how in the world they dealt with the pain. They said they would drive his truck around and somehow they felt he was there with them, and that pulled them through.

Brice commented on discovering this track,

“I went around town and listened to a lot of songs, and one of the publishers said, ‘I know you’re looking for some lighter stuff, but I’ve got a song that we feel is the song of the year.’ They played it, and I started losing it in front of everybody. It just killed me. It made me think about my granddaddy, and everybody I’d lost.”

Undeniably, Lee Brice takes us deep into the heart and soul of what country music is all about.  Life, love and the pursuit of. . .well, whatever song tugs at your heart strings.  And tug away, they do! His single “Love Like Crazy” from the album of the same name, was Billboard‘s Most Played Country Song of 2010.  Brice has become a near household name on the Billboard charts, with the 2012 ACM Award winning song “Crazy Girl”  he penned for the Eli Young Band making the “most played” song in the country genre for 2011.  He also wrote the only song in Billboard history to debut at the top of the Hot Country songs chart, which you know as one of Garth Brooks‘ hits, “More Than A Memory.”

“I Drive Your Truck” Lyrics

89 cents in the ash tray / Half empty bottle of Gatorade rolling on the floorboards / That dirty Braves cap on the dash / Dog tags hanging from the rear-view, / Old skoal can and cowboy boots / and an old army shirt folded in the back / This thing burns gas like crazy, / but that’s alright / People got their ways of coping / oh and I got mine / I drive your truck, / I roll every window down / And I burn up every back road in this town / I find a field / I tear it up / till all the pains a cloud of dust / Yeah, sometimes I drive your truck / I leave that radio playing / same old country station where you left it / Yeah man I crank it up / And you probably punch my arm right now / if you saw this tear rolling down my face / Hey man I’m trying to be tough,  / Momma asked me this morning / if I’ve been by your grave /  But that flag / ……. anywhere I feel you anyway / I drive your truck, / I roll every window down / And I burn up every back road in this town / I find a field / I tear it up / till all the pains a cloud of dust / Yeah, sometimes I drive your truck / I’ve cussed, / prayed / I’ve said good bye / I’ve shook my fist and asked god why / These days when I’m missing you this much / I drive your truck, / I roll every window down / And I burn up every back road in this town / I find a field / I tear it up / till all the pains a cloud of dust / Yeah, sometimes I drive your truck / I drive your truck / I drive your truck / I hope you don’t mind / I hope you don’t mind / I drive your truck (Source: metrolyrics.com)
