[photogallerylink id=134856 align=right]I had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to Pascagoula, Mississippi native [mp3com-artist]Brent Anderson[/mp3com-artist] before our 99.5 WYCD Ten Man Jam. Brent’s as easy going as they come, and as music director of WYCD, I made it a point to book him for this concert upon my first listen to his debut single “Amy’s Song“, a song which combines an original lyric and story with a familiar lyric and melody from Pure Prairie League.
Brent actually joined me as a special guest on my show last fall at the GM Renaissance Center OnStar studio where he performed “Amy’s Song” and some other material for what Billboard called one of the “Most Anticipated Albums of 2012,” an honor in which Brent calls “unreal.” Brent, an incredible guitarist in his own right, credits his father as his influence. Aside from “Amy’s Song“, Brent says you can expect a spectrum of his personality and experiences on his debut album, slated for a summer release on Arista.
I talked with Brent about sports… something we both connected with. During the Super Bowl, in spite of being a New Orleans Saints fan, he cleaned up in a bet on the Giants as the winner of Super Bowl XLII, as the Mannings are like royalty in the South, especially along the Gulf Coast. Brent’s an avid baseball fan, and is thrilled to see his Atlanta Braves this year, and hopes they have a slightly more successful season than last year where they totally let him down last year.
All in all, Brent’s a mellow fellow, a down to earth guy whose gutsy, southern, gravelly voice reminds you of [mp3com-artist]John Mayer[/mp3com-artist]. Look for his debut album to cover a spectrum of emotions from he, the writer, and sounds from this virtuoso musician/songwriter, and someone I was proud to pick as a performer at our Ten Man Jam this year.
