Tim McGraw Tries To Cut Ties With Record Label

Seems like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Alan Jackson[/lastfm] is a trend setter!  Earlier this year, Alan cut ties with his record label, now it seems that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tim McGraw[/lastfm] is going to do the same.  Tim actually goes to court this week regarding leaving his label, and putting out some long-awaited new music!

According to Taste of Country, Tim is set to hit the court room this week to try to see if he could leave his record label and be able to record music on a different record.  They mention that full court wouldn’t be in session until July, but at least they could try to figure out if he could star working on some music. This court date will “first make a final determination on whether or not Curb is entitled to prevent Mr. McGraw, by injunction or otherwise, from recording for other entities other than Curb.”

Tim is excited about recording new music.  He says that everything he has done up to this point is nothing compared to what he has in store.

“I’m really just starting to figure out what I want to do and the music I want to make. I’m only about 30 per cent into my career. It’s been foothills until now.”

This whole thing started when he recorded and tried to release a new album entitled Emotional Traffic.  And while there is a very successful tour that came from it, Curb said he recorded the album and was trying to release it way to early, compared to the previous release.  Tim signed a 5 album deal over 20 years ago and still hasn’t released them all.  Read more about the situation at TasteofCountry.com
