At the second annual Detroit FanFare this weekend, Robocop (better know as Peter Weller) was in town to sign autographs and speak with fans. I got a chance to talk with Peter about the Robocop statue that is currently in the process of being built. He called the statue a “point of civic pride” and “Detroit seizing the film as an emblem.“
The starters of the project and website, Detroit Needs RoboCop, spoke about the specifics of the statue. Brandon Walley told me they raised over $67,000 on KickStarter, to crowd fund the project. Through this funding, the project is now a reality.
