If you’re looking for a place to live with your boyfriend in Florida, you might want to know that a state law that dates back to the 1800’s condemns unmarried couples living under the same roof. That’s right, cohabitation of unmarried people is currently a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by $500 or up to 60 days in jail. I’m guessing that Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie will not be buying another home in Florida, huh?
Though it’s been largely ignored by courts, it’s getting renewed attention as a local representative attempts to have it repealed. At least one over-protective Florida law can’t be blamed on dusty old traditions: The “Pull Up Your Pants” law is in effect and this year marks the first year kids caught wearing baggy pants to school could be suspended.
So what do you think about this law in Florida…should all states including Michigan have this law too?
