As a Mom with “Teenage Daughters,” [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Martina McBride[/lastfm] knew she would strike a chord with other Moms when she released her latest single! What she did not expect, was the letters, e-mails and tweets from teen girls who love the song, and tell Martina that the song has actually made them closer to their own Moms! Watch the video for “Teenage Daughters” and hear what teen girls are telling Martina about what this song means to them!
Martina tells GAC:
“I get a lot of response from teenage girls, first of all, who say things like ‘this is me and my mom’s song, we blast it in the car together!”
“Or one of them said ‘this brought me and my mom closer together, this song, it kind of broke down the wall and let us start talking about what’s going on with us.”
Another group responding to the song are grown women looking back at their relationships with their mothers during those teen years. Martina says:
“It’s really taken on a whole different aspect than I ever dreamed that it would and it’s really wonderful.”
I personally, wish I could forget all the hell I put my Mom through when I was an evil teenager. But my Mom will never let me forget, and she used to tell me all the time, “You are 10 times worse than I was when I was a teenager, and I hope one day when you have a child, she will be 10 times worse than you, so you understand what you’ve put me through!” I must admit I was pretty dang lucky, as my daughter Gina was not nearly as bad as I was at her age…probably an angel in comparison actually! I have a 16-year-old step-daughter named Alexa now too….and I dodged another bullet because Alexa is sweet as pie, and has never given me or my husband one single reason to even raise our voice with her! In the words of yet another Martina song, I am truly “Blessed!”
If you missed the video or have not really listened to all the words in Martina’s latest single, here it is: “Teenage Daughters”
