I don’t know if it is because I am a southern boy, or I just love some good grilled meat, I have this obsession with pork.  Smoked pork is usually what I lean towards, but I have it so often, sometimes it loses that special quality it has.  That’s when I go with one of my absolute favorite grilling item – pork chops! 

A lot of times when we think pork chops, we think baked or broiled in the oven, but after you try this recipe, you will never think of pork chops the same!

This is all you will need:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
In a small/medium sauce pan, combine brown sugar, apple juice, oil, soy sauce, ginger, salt , and pepper and bring to a boil.  Combine water and cornstarch in small bowl, and whisk into brown sugar mixture. Stir until thick.
This sauce is an important part of the grilling process.  Put the chops a preheated grill per usual, but do not, I repeat do not put the sauce on the chops right away.  Wait until you are going to pull the chops off, with 2 of 3 minutes remaining.  I got this recipe from one of my favorite recipe sites, Allrecipes.com, and has been in my recipe selection ever since the first time I tried it.  They also had this awesome video that helped me learn more about pork than I ever thought possible!
