[photogallerylink id=83136 align=right]For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting or knowing [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ty Stone[/lastfm], you will definitely want to be watching the Upper Stage at the Downtown Hoedown today (Saturday, May 14th) at 6:05 p.m. when Mr. “American Style” straps on his guitar and entertains the masses with his story in song! Ty Stone got his start in country music in a very unusual way, from flippin’ burgers to rooming with Kid Rock!
[pullquote quote=”Boy I wanna tell you something – that song you just played was right on” credit=”Hank Williams Jr. to Ty Stone at campfire round”]The Dr. Don Morning Show from 99.5 WYCD in Detroit talked with Ty Stone at the Downtown Hoedown on May 14th. In blue jeans made by Motor City Denim (a Detroit boy through and through), “Ty is the most humble guy around and so talented,” says 99.5’s Steve Grunwald.
Ty’s story of how he got his start in the country music business is proof positive that dreams do come true. While minding his own business, working at Great Lakes Steel Corp, a layoff was the catalyst to encourage Ty to pursue his career in music. He packed his bag and moved to LA where the first guy he talked to asked him if he wanted it bad enought to flip hamburgers for it. He didn’t think so, but 6 months later, sure enough, he was flipping those burgers and saving those minimum wages to record.
[photogallerylink id=81287 align=left]After recording “Blessed St. Anthony” and mailing the CD to a friend in Detroit, the chain of events that followed were soon to become history. A friend of Ty’s got great seats at a Detroit Pistons game, and knowing those seats may find him in the vicinity of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kid Rock[/lastfm], packed the CD in his pocket. Needless to say, he did get that CD in the hands of Kid Rock and two weeks later, again while flippin’ burgers, Ty Stone‘s phone rang. In dire straits, Stone didn’t answer the call for fear of it being a bill collector. To his surprise when he listened to the voice message, the call was from Kid Rock and Kid loved the CD! The next day he was on his way back to Detroit.
From sitting ’round the campfire jamming with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Hank Williams Jr.[/lastfm] and Kid Rock, to touring and promoting his latest single “American Style,” Ty Stone is the real deal.
