Chalk up the 22nd No. 1 hit for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kenny Chesney[/lastfm] with his most recent single, “Live A Little.” While this is the first week at No. 1 at both Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Billboard, Kenny knew it was gonna be a hit right away.
According to Taste of Country, Kenny knew from the start of producing “Live A Little,” that it would be a hit. And when the song was penned, the songwriters, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Lee Murphy[/lastfm] and Shane Minor, had Kenny in mind when writing the song.
It’s a song that encourages you to just forget about everything else and have a good time, step back and smell the roses. It’s an escape. When we finished writing it, Shane and I were sitting there going, ‘Man … Kenny could kill this!'”
Kenny also said in a press release that the song hits home to him, even if he didn’t write it.
“I look at myself in the mirror and say that every single day, and I hope to think I’m getting a little better at it. You’ve got to ‘Live a Little!'”
Gotta love his 3rd No.1 single off his Hemingway’s Whiskey album:
