In our recent interview, powerhouse ingenues Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olsen shared their thoughts on beauty, the pressures in high school, and what to expect in the new teen horror romance, Beastly.

Vanessa Hudgens describes it as “sexy.” She’s not just referring to costar Alex Pettyfer’s abs.

The modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast is set in New York City. I Am Number Four‘s Alex Pettyfer plays Kyle. He’s a self centered guy who’s been transformed into a monster by Mary-Kate Olsen’s vampire-esque character. It’s his true love, played by Vanessa Hudgens, who teaches Kyle that real beauty comes from within.

Neil Patrick Harris tells us that Beastly is not your typical teen horror romance. “It reminded me more of like Cruel Intentions. What Cruel Intentions is to Dangerous Liaisons. It’s very slick, rich, visual, but very cool and doesn’t try to follow the stereotypical high school journey…” says Patrick.
