Chewing gum seems to be ‘safe’ for now! But a proposed new law in New York would make it illegal to walk and cross a street while talking on a cell phone, or listening to an iPod, or other MP3 player. The idea was introduced after several accidents in New York City where people were hit by cars while talking on the phone or wearing headphones.  The lady who fell into the fountain while ‘walking & texting’ has a warning for everyone…check out the video after the jump!

Getting caught talking and walking would cost you a $100 fine.   People critical of the new law say it is an intrusion into their personal lives by a “nanny state.”

Remember the lady who fell into the fountain at the mall, while ‘walking & texting’…check out what she says about this now!

When and where is it appropriate to curtail the use of cell phones?
