[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Rich[/lastfm] and his wife Joan, were the hosts of a really special Christmas party at their ‘Love Circle‘ home this past Saturday! About 60 kids who are also patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and their families were treated to a special day including a visit from Santa Claus!
John Rich may have a reputation as a ‘party guy’, but behind the scenes, he is a teddy bear with a heart of gold. These special kids were able to meet Santa Claus, open presents, make gingerbread houses, sing Christmas carols and enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus too!
John tells the Nashville Tennessean: “This is a first for me,” Rich said. “I’ve been involved with Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital over the years, going in there and singing to the kids. Up here on Love Circle, when you look out any window facing town you can see the hospital, and it looks like it’s so close you can touch it. Every time I see that hospital I think about those kids and their parents.”
Rich, who became a first-time parent in January with the birth of son Cash, said that parenthood really drove home the weight of those families’ experiences. “We are blessed with health over here in our family, and I thought it would be a nice break for all the kids to be able to come over and meet Santa Claus and get a present.”
To me, this truly represents what Christmas is all about! Way to go John & Joan Rich!
Do you and your family make a point of doing something special at Christmas for who are sick or less fortunate?
