[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jimmy Wayne[/lastfm] actually knows quite a bit about a hard life. Jimmy was actually abandoned by his family at the age of 13 and did some bouncing around from many different schools. When 16, Jimmy me the Costner family. From here, he found a lot of consistency within his life. Jimmy started the Meet Me Halfway campaign last year which had him walking across America last year while raising awareness and money for homeless teens. CBS took note of this touching story.
Jimmy had this to say to AOL’s The Boot:
“The fact that Meet Me Halfway began with a single idea at the beginning of 2010, and the year will end with millions aware of the campaign is amazing,” Jimmy tells The Boot. “People who watch this special will learn about aging out, because people don’t know what ‘aging out’ really means. By the end of 2010, millions of people will know thanks to everybody — all of the people that supported MMH this year. It got someone’s attention at CBS. It’s that simple. Someone was following the walk on Twitter, and thanks to all the fans and the supporters who kept this thing going and didn’t make me look like a dummy out there by myself. It got somebody’s attention. It led to someone hearing about some country singer out walking across America. Then they learn that I’m doing it because I’m trying to raise awareness for teenagers aging out of the system. CBS said, ‘That’s exactly who we need on the show. That’s a perfect fit.’ CBS loves Meet Me Halfway.”
