[lastfm]Adam Brand[/lastfm] may be new to the country music scene in the United States, but he’s sure no newcomer; Adam has had a successful recording career in his native Australia for the past 12 years. Shortly before winning Australia’s Dancing With The Stars last year, Brand signed his first major U.S. record deal with Arista Nashville.
Born in the Western Australian city of Perth, Adam grew up listening to his dad’s band, and everyone from [lastfm]Elvis Presley[/lastfm] to [lastfm]The Everly Brothers[/lastfm]. In high school, he gravitated toward the music of bands like [lastfm]AC/DC[/lastfm] and artists like [lastfm]Bruce Springsteen.[/lastfm] While Brand loved the traditional sounds of country music, he certainly wasn’t familiar with a guy named [lastfm]Garth Brooks[/lastfm] when he came to his hometown.
While [lastfm]Adam Brand[/lastfm] first started visiting Nashville back in 1999 – coming as a songwriter and returning to the U.S. annually to collaborate on songs that he would record and release in Australia – he is now making his mark as a country artist in the U.S. as well. Adam’s first U.S. single is “Ready For Love,” which is on the country charts now.
