Having a dozen or so trees that are probably over 100 years old is pretty cool! Until the fall, when the yard is covered in leaves, and the ‘rake or mulch battle’ begins…again! Last fall, came home from work after hubby ‘mulched’ all the leaves, instead of raking, and could not see an inch of grass at all, it looked like a ‘dirt yard!’
I lost the debate last year. I said rake, husband said mulch, he won. The grass that took nearly 2 years to grow ‘disappeared’ under 3 inches of ‘mulch’ leaving what looked like a dirt yard, AGAIN! Hubby argued that, ‘in the spring, it would look AWESOME,’ all the ‘natural nutrients’ of the leaves would feed the grass.
WRONG! While everyone else had beautiful green grass, we had a ‘dirt yard’, poor grass was choked off by all the mulch. After MORE ‘debating’, a more polite word for fighting, I went out there, raked all the mulch up, and finally the grass began to grow! Now here we go again, I have a feeling I will be doing a LOT of raking this weekend!
What do you ‘battle with’ your spouse about?
