Do YOU remember? Where were you on the day [lastfm]Elvis Presley[/lastfm] died? Was August 16, 1977, and for Elvis fans, was a pretty shocking event. I remember people crying (myself included),  in a state of disbelief, “The King” was dead.

The scorching heat (over 100 degrees) in Memphis did not stop his faithful followers from flocking to his beloved Graceland, holding a candlelight vigil, all day and into the night. But this just reminds me once again, of the sad truth, he did NOT have to die. It was PRESCRIPTION DRUGS that killed Elvis, and it could have been different.

And prescription drugs are STILL killing people every day, in fact is seems that they are MORE prevalent today, than they were 33 years ago. Today, it is not just “rich & famous celebrities” who have access to doctors willing to prescribe narcotic drugs like Vicodin and Oxycotin to anyone who has an “ache or pain”.

I think the “heartache and pain” for family and friends of those who lose their loved ones to prescription drug overdoses is FAR worse pain to bear. My heart still aches….

Where were you when Elvis died?
