He has had some health problems ..but this still came as a shock. His wife, Donna, says he sat down in front of the television to have a bite. She left the room and when she came back a few minutes later, he was gone.
His biggest hit was “Big Bad John” which hit the charts in 1961. He also hosted his own variety television show in the early 60s on ABC. It’s one of the first regular shows featuring one of Jim Henson‘s Muppets: Rolf, the piano-playing dog.
Jimmy Dean was also known for his sausage company which he founded in the late ’60s and eventually sold to the Sara Lee Company.
In addition to all of that, he was also an actor, served in the Air Force and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame just this year. Jimmy was born Seth Ward in Olton, Texas, on August 10th, 1928.
